Islamabad United’s Naseem Shah Fined for Breaching PSL Code of Conduct

Islamabad United’s young pace sensation, Naseem Shah, has incurred a 10 per cent fine of his match fee for a Level 1 breach of the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) Code of Conduct. The incident occurred during his side’s clash against Multan Sultans at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

Naseem Shah was charged with violating Article 2.2 of the Code of Conduct, which pertains to the abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures and fittings. The breach occurred when Naseem kicked the stumps in frustration after the final ball of Multan Sultans’ innings.

Acknowledging the breach, Naseem Shah pleaded guilty to the charge and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Roshan Mahanama. Consequently, there was no requirement for a formal hearing.

The charge was brought to the attention of Naseem Shah by on-field umpires Ruchira Palliyaguruge and Muhammad Asif, who observed the incident during the match.

In a separate incident during the same match, Multan Sultans were also fined for maintaining a slow over-rate. Following an assessment by match referee Roshan Mahanama, it was determined that Sultans were one over short of their target, considering time allowances.

Under Article 2.22 of the PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, each player of Multan Sultans was fined 10 per cent of his match fee as a consequence of the slow over-rate.

These disciplinary actions serve as a reminder to players and teams participating in the PSL to conduct themselves in accordance with the spirit of the game and adhere to the established rules and regulations. With the tournament continuing, players are expected to compete with sportsmanship and uphold the integrity of the competition.
