The acting talent powerhouse Maira Khan is a well-known TV host, model, and actress who has successfully marked her presence in the showbiz and media industry ever since she started her career as a model and then established herself as one fine versatile actress. Lately, she has also tested her skills as a TV host and yet again did an impressive job.
Maira recently joined launched Lahore-based TV channel, PNN where she is hosting their political satire show, Patari. Maira has previously done similar work with Geo News’ hugely popular show Hum Sab Umeed Se Hain.
“This is somewhat a replug of the Hum Sab Umeed Se Hain experience for me as I am using my past experience to finely present this new show,” says the actor turned TV host, Maira Khan. Talking about her journey in the political satire genre, Maira says, “I am always grateful to Dr Younas Butt who offered me mimicry roles in Hum Sab Umeed Se Hain and Butt Tameezian which were not only appreciated by the audience but also eventually gained Sir Aftab Iqbal’s attention as well who later on cast me in ‘Khabardar ’ which was the most popular TV show on Express News for almost four years.”
As a mimicry artist, Maira portrayed some of the iconic characters such as former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar, ace TV anchor Asma Shirazi, Lollywood actresses Reema, Meera, and many more but her ultimate claim to fame is portraying the legendary singer Malika-e-Taranum Noor Jahan. Now with Patari, Maira has got a chance to do something similar where she has double the responsibility. She is not only a performer of such skits but also the presenter & host of the show.
Maira branched away from her hit TV show Khabardar of Express News and took the role of performer and host in Patari. The move did not go unnoticed by the fans as it surprised a few but at the same time, the feedback from the fans has been encouraging. “I am getting so many messages about my new show on my all social media accounts even on my YouTube channel mostly questions are about my new show, this humbles me truly that fans take notice of my work and follow it so keenly,” says Maira Khan
Considering the history and past performances of Maira Khan, she seems to be the perfect fit for the show Patari, in fact, the TV channel PNN has managed to get recognition because of this particular show, while commenting on this Maira says, “it is really heartening to listen to such comments and that encourages me to do better and better with every show and performance. Also, it is always good to get recognition for the good work one does, I am glad if my and my team’s efforts are bearing fruit for the show and the channel.”
The highly-rated show of PNN, Patari airs every Saturday and Sunday at 10 pm.
Maira Khan started her career as a model in 2005 and debuted as a TV actor in 2008 with PTV’s drama serial Yaad Piya Ki Aaye. Maira Khan is a self-taught actress and is not certified with a degree in acting from an institute. However, in 2018 she traveled to the UK to attend a workshop to learn TV presentation and broadcasting.
Maira hails from Lahore with her ancestors’ roots in Peshawar as her grandfather is from the city of Peshawar.
