Day two of the Hanif Mohammad Trophy in Rahim Yar Khan saw an exciting display of cricket as Jawad Ali’s brilliant six-wicket haul dismantled Abbottabad, and Khalid Usman showcased his bowling prowess to restrict Hyderabad.

Quetta began their day at 44 for no loss, looking to build on their overnight score at Multan Cricket Stadium. However, they were bowled out for 198 in 82.5 overs. Latifullah Shah was the top scorer for Quetta with 48 runs, displaying remarkable resilience in his innings. Bismillah Khan and Shahbaz Khan contributed 38 and 36 runs, respectively, adding valuable runs to the team’s total. Azan Tariq led the bowling attack for Islamabad, claiming three crucial wickets. Sikandar Tajwar and Mohammad Nadeem chipped in with two wickets each to halt Quetta’s progress.

In their second innings, Islamabad managed to score 77 for 3 in just 13 overs. Hassan Nawaz played a fantastic unbeaten innings of 61 runs from just 33 balls, which included eight boundaries and four sixes. Jalat Khan picked up two wickets, while Gohar Faiz secured one wicket.

Abbottabad v Hyderabad at Sheikh Khalifa Sports Complex

Over at Sheikh Khalifa Sports Complex, Abbottabad resumed their innings from an overnight score of 118 for 4 in 29 overs. However, they were bowled out for 162 in 44.1 overs. Anees Azam Khan and Mohammad Arif were the top run-getters for Abbottabad, contributing 53 and 42 runs, respectively. Jawad Ali’s remarkable six-wicket haul, including three wickets in a game-changing over, was the standout performance with the ball for Hyderabad. Mustafa Nasir also made valuable contributions by taking three wickets.

Hyderabad improved on their first-innings performance by posting 220 for nine in 75 overs, led by a solid knock from Rizwan Mehmood, who scored 82 runs from 97 balls, including 14 boundaries and a six. Mohammad Suleman also played a significant role, contributing a half-century with 56 runs from 132 balls, featuring eight boundaries. Khalid Usman was the star of the show with the ball, taking six wickets and ensuring that Abbottabad faced an uphill battle. Mansoor Ali chipped in with two wickets to support Khalid Usman’s dominant performance.
