Jawad Blunt crowned the Red Bull Street Style Champion 2016

After much wait and display of impressive skills by freestylers from different parts of Pakistan, it was Jawad Blunt from Lahore who outplayed the winners from Karachi and Islamabad, including the Wild Card entry, to earn the top honor to represent his country through his freestyling skills on a global platform at the Red Bull Street Style World Finals in the UK.

The last leg of the Red Bull Street Style Pakistan edition kicked-off with the Islamabad Qualifiers. After an overwhelming response to the registrations stage, the talent witnessed last night proved that Islamabad has a growing pool of freestylers with the potential to go global. Sheheryar was the winner of the Islamabad Qualifiers Round. Straight after the Islamabad Qualifiers the National Finals kicked-off, the moment for Pakistan to decide the Red Bull Street Style Champion 2016 had finally arrived.

The final leg of the Red Bull Street Style Pakistan edition kicked-off with the ‘WILD CARD’ between Lahore’s Haider Lucky and Islamabad’s Arsalan Iqbal; the latter was declared the winner. This was followed by a face-off between Danny from Karachi and Sheheryar from Islamabad. Both young freestylers got the crowd grooving to their moves and thus resulted in a tie. An extra 20 seconds slot was given to both Danny and Sheheryar to showcase their skills one more time but this time Sheheryar won the crowd and judges over his performance with 26 points.

Arsalan Iqbal was called on to challenge Jawad Blunt from Lahore. Both displayed great freestyling skills but Jawad Blunt stood out and won more points over Arsalan Iqbal. The final showdown was between Islamabad (Sheheryar) and Lahore (Jawad Blunt). By this point the crowd had increased in large numbers and like the rest of the country eagerly awaited for Pakistan’s next Red Bull Street Style Champion 2016. The final round started with Sheheryar displaying some outrageous freestyling skills and to counter his opponent Jawad Blunt performed some unique freestyling skills in front of a large audience.

In the end, Jawad Blunt from Lahore was crowned Pakistan’s Red Bull Street Style Champion 2016. This young lad from Lahore will now represent Pakistan at the Red Bull Street Style World Finals in London (November 7-8, 2016) where some of the best freestylers in the world will assemble on one stage, on one platform to showcase their unique, signature freestyling moves to a global audience. Most importantly at the most important freestyling event in the world Pakistan through its new champion ‘Jawad Blunt’ will be given the opportunity to project a progressive side of the country and how Pakistani freestylers have the potential, know-how to compete in international freestyling events.

Red Bull Street Style, the only premium and most important platform for freestylers around the world to showcase their skills, was activated in Pakistan for the third time. Thousands from all corners of Pakistan applied with the hope to represent their country at the Red Bull Street Style World Finals scheduled to take place in London from November 7-8, 2016.
