Kabli Pulao: A connection with the Culture

The first episode of Kabli Pulao opens with Pashto music and in a peaceful Northern area scenery. This helps to build a narrative for the audience that the story is starting from the northern side. The ambience gives a culturist feeling and to add more, the leading character Zakir aka Haji Sahab, is eating Pulao which gives support to the name of the drama.

As the story moves further Haji Sahab, who is with a religious group, is sitting in a mosque where a discussion is going on. In between, the Kabli Pulao seller tells his story of migration from Afghanistan, due to the circumstances not being good there and he also revealed that he has a widow sister whose husband was killed due to an explosion. When he mentioned about looking for a proposal for her, he gets a proposal from the person sitting in the mosque, but is not satisfied with it.

Later, we see Haji Sahab having a conversation with his friend in a clothes shop and this is when the story reveals that Haji Sahab not married, despite his age. At this point, the audience is some what aware that the proposal of the Pulao seller’s sister could be done with Haji Sahab.

 

The next day, at the pulao stall, the seller reveals that he is still searching proposal for his sister and takes Haji Sahab toward his home, where Haji Sahab meets another brother who is disabled. At this point, audiences are made more aware of the difficult situation the family is in. Firstly, the Pulao seller is the only bread owner and secondly, he has a widow sister who he has to get married. This scenario adds more depth and intensity to the drama.

Following this, we witness a location change and now the family of Haji Sahab has been revealed. His niece’s engagement is also going on.

 

Moving back, Haji Sahab decides to pay for the treatment of the disabled person and the unmarried lady is now willing to get married to return the favour. Intensity on both edges. A whole discussion is held, but after the intervention of the Head of the religious group, we see the marriage finally happens. Following this, they depart for Haji Sahab’s house.

 

The production quality of the drama is quite good as the lighting perfectly fits with the ambience and increases the depth of each shot. The cultural blend shown adds colour, while the plot itself looks very different and engaging. At this point, we are all curious to know what will happen next.
