Kamran Ghulam’s Century and Salman Ali Agha’s All-Round Performance Lead Markhors to 92-Run Victory Over Dolphins

Markhors secured a 92-run victory over Dolphins in the sixth match of the Champions One Day Cup, thanks to a brilliant century by Kamran Ghulam and an all-round performance by Salman Ali Agha.

This was the Markhors’ third win of the tournament, and Kamran Ghulam was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding batting performance.

Dolphins captain Saud Shakeel won the toss and chose to field, with Markhors posting a total of 284 for 9 in their allotted 50 overs. In response, the Dolphins were bowled out for 192 in 43.5 overs.

Markhors’ innings had an early setback when Mir Hamza dismissed both openers, Bismillah Khan and Mohammad Faizan, with just 10 runs on the board. However, Kamran Ghulam and captain Mohammad Rizwan added a crucial 122-run partnership for the third wicket. Kamran Ghulam scored 113 runs off 12 fours and 3 sixes, marking his second century of the tournament, having previously scored 115 against the Panthers. This was his eighth overall List A century.

Mohammad Rizwan contributed 51 runs, including 3 fours and a six, before being stumped by Usman Qadir. Salman Ali Agha played a valuable knock of 49 runs with 3 fours and a six, sharing a 71-run stand with Kamran Ghulam for the fourth wicket.

For the Dolphins, Faheem Ashraf was the most successful bowler, taking 4 wickets for 50 runs, including the key dismissals of Salman Ali Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Abdul Samad, and Mohammad Imran.

In reply, Dolphins’ innings never gained momentum as they lost their first two wickets, Haris Rauf (0) and Ahsan Ali (1), for just 13 runs. The situation worsened when Salman Ali Agha took the crucial wickets of Sahibzada Farhan (24), Qasim Akram (13), and Saud Shakeel (41).

Asif Ali fought valiantly with a quickfire 50, which included 3 sixes and 3 fours, but once he was dismissed, the match was all but over for the Dolphins.

Besides Salman Ali Agha’s three-wicket haul, Mohammad Imran also claimed 3 wickets to seal the win for the Markhors.

The seventh match of the tournament will be played on Thursday between Dolphins and Stallions.
