The race to the final of the National Women’s T20 Tournament 2023-24 has concluded with Karachi and Lahore emerging as the top contenders after an intense round of matches. Rawalpindi, despite a valiant effort, narrowly missed out on qualification based on net run rate (NRR).

In a thrilling showdown at various venues in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the top three teams battled fiercely to secure their spots in the final. Lahore and Karachi proved their mettle, showcasing exceptional performances throughout the tournament.

Rawalpindi vs. Quetta: Aliya Riaz’s Heroics

Rawalpindi, led by captain Aliya Riaz, displayed dominance against Quetta at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium. Opting to field first after winning the toss, Rawalpindi’s bowlers restricted Quetta to a modest total of 84-8. Aima Saleem and Tania Saeed starred with the ball, claiming three and two wickets respectively.

In response, Rawalpindi chased down the target with ease, powered by Aliya Riaz’s explosive unbeaten half-century. Aliya’s scintillating knock of 58 runs off just 18 deliveries guided her team to victory by nine wickets, earning her the player of the match award.

Multan vs. Karachi: Gull Feroza’s Brilliance in Vain

Multan faced Karachi in a fiercely contested encounter at the Ayub Park Ground. Multan’s captain Gull Feroza’s magnificent half-century propelled her team to a competitive total of 114-5. However, Karachi’s bowlers, led by Rameen Shamim and Fatima Sana, restricted Multan’s batting lineup to ensure a manageable target.

In pursuit of victory, Karachi’s batswomen displayed resilience, with Javeria Khan leading the charge with a crucial knock of 40 runs. Despite a rain interruption, Karachi emerged victorious by 20 runs (DLS method), with Gull Feroza’s stellar performance earning her the player of the match accolade.

Peshawar vs. Lahore: Nashra Sundhu’s Spin Magic

Lahore asserted their dominance against Peshawar at the Diamond Cricket Ground, with spinner Nashra Sundhu wreaking havoc with a remarkable five-wicket haul. Peshawar’s batting lineup struggled to counter Nashra’s spin, crumbling to a paltry total of 50 runs. Nashra’s exceptional bowling display earned her the player of the match award.

In reply, Lahore’s batswomen chased down the target comfortably within eight overs, with Sidra Amin leading the charge with an unbeaten 41 runs. Lahore’s comprehensive 10-wicket victory solidified their position at the top of the table.
