Karachi Blues Triumph, Abbottabad Prevails, and Islamabad Piles on Runs in Hanif Mohammad Trophy Matches

In the Hanif Mohammad Trophy 2023-24, Karachi Blues secured a 51-run victory against Bahawalpur at the Sheikh Khalifa Sports Complex in Rahim Yar Khan. Abbottabad triumphed over Hyderabad at the Multan Cricket Stadium, and Islamabad amassed runs on the board against Sialkot at Muzaffarabad Cricket Stadium.

Karachi Blues Secure 51-Run Victory Over Bahawalpur

In a hard-fought encounter at the Sheikh Khalifa Sports Complex in Rahim Yar Khan, Karachi Blues clinched a 51-run victory against Bahawalpur. Karachi Blues, resuming their second innings at 213 for eight, added 15 more runs to their total.

Saifullah Bangash (56) and Akbar ur Rehman (55) were the standout performers with the bat for Karachi Blues. Gulfam Aziz’s five-wicket haul for Bahawalpur was well-supported by Shayan Khalil’s three wickets.

Bahawalpur was set the target of 215 runs in their final innings. Despite a resilient knock from Shahid Mirani (51), Bahawalpur fell short, scoring 228 runs. Aarish Ali Khan’s four wickets played a vital role in Karachi Blues’ victory.

 

Abbottabad Prevails Against Hyderabad in Thrilling Contest

At the Multan Cricket Stadium, Abbottabad emerged victorious in a thrilling contest against Hyderabad. Hyderabad, resuming their second innings at 130 for two, posted a total of 313 runs, with Mohammad Suleman (144) and Haris Khan (79) leading the way.

Abbottabad was tasked with chasing 122 runs in the final innings. While their innings got off to a shaky start, Khalid Usman (32 not out) and Afaq Ahmed (26) guided Abbottabad to a crucial win with three wickets to spare.

The contest showcased the competitive spirit of the teams in the Hanif Mohammad Trophy.

Islamabad Amasses Runs Against Sialkot

At Muzaffarabad Cricket Stadium, Islamabad continued to pile on runs against Sialkot. Faizan Riaz (131) and Hasan Nawaz (120) registered centuries for Islamabad, contributing to a total of 521 runs in the first innings.

Bilal Asif’s five-wicket haul was the highlight for Sialkot’s bowling effort. Trailing by 270 runs, Sialkot began their second innings but could manage only 21 runs before losing a wicket.

The match promises more action as it unfolds in the Hanif Mohammad Trophy.
