Defending champions Karachi Region Whites will kick off their Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024 campaign against Peshawar Region on 26 October at Ashfaq Ground, Charsadda. This year’s premier first-class tournament will feature 18 teams from 16 regions, divided into three groups. The top team from each group will advance to the triangular stage, with the final set for 14-18 December.
The expanded tournament, with teams from Abbottabad, Karachi, Lahore, and beyond, provides a broader platform for emerging talent. In the triangular stage, each group winner will play two matches, with the top two sides qualifying for the final. A total prize fund of PKR12.6 million will be up for grabs, with the champions set to receive PKR7.5 million and the runners-up PKR4 million.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed his excitement: “The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy is vital for nurturing talent. Expanding from eight to 18 teams strengthens our talent pool and increases regional participation. We are committed to ensuring this tournament operates at the highest standards.”
Six cities – Abbottabad, Charsadda, Gujranwala, Islamabad, Lahore, and Rawalpindi – will host 45 group stage matches, with key venues like Islamabad’s Diamond Ground and Lahore’s Saeed Sports City set to feature. The top side from each group will move on to the next phase.
