In a riveting encounter at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, Karachi Whites seized a commanding win against Lahore Blues in the National T20 Cup’s Super Eight stage. The bowling prowess of Karachi Whites proved decisive as they defended their total of 164, restricting Lahore Blues to 145 and securing a 19-run victory.
Batting first after losing the toss, Karachi Whites faced a challenging situation but managed to post a competitive score of 164-9 in their allotted 20 overs. Azam Khan played a fiery knock, hammering 41 runs off 22 balls, supported by valuable contributions from Ammad Alam (28) and Danish Aziz (24).
In response, Lahore Blues faced early setbacks, collapsing to a staggering 36-7. Despite the resilient efforts of Hashim Ibrahim, who scored 22 runs, the top-order struggle proved detrimental to their chase. Umaid Asif (24) and Kashif Bhatti (50) orchestrated a crucial partnership of 61 runs, offering a glimmer of hope. However, the late cameos from Usman Qadir (13*) and Hunain Shah (12) were insufficient to bridge the gap.
Karachi Whites’ bowling unit exhibited tremendous skill, spearheaded by Danish Aziz and Ghulam Mudassar, who both claimed three wickets. Aftab Ibrahim and other bowlers contributed significantly, restricting Lahore Blues’ batting line-up.
The standout performer, Danish Aziz, was crowned the Player of the Match for his exceptional three-wicket haul and significant batting contribution earlier in the game.
With this impressive victory, Karachi Whites have set the tone for an enthralling Super Eight stage, showcasing their mettle in this prestigious T20 tournament.
