Karachi Whites Rally to Keep Lahore Blues in Check in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy

On the third day of round seven in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023-24, Karachi Whites put up a resilient performance at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. After being all out for 161 in 42 overs in the first innings, they fought back to leave Lahore Blues struggling at 148 for six in 40 overs. Meanwhile, at Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, Multan limited Rawalpindi to 150 for two wickets in 43 overs. Lahore Whites, after posting 245 runs in 52.1 overs and dismissing Lahore Whites for 238 runs in 59 overs, maintained a strong position in the game. Unfortunately, the day’s play between FATA and Peshawar at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium was called off due to adverse weather conditions.

Lahore Blues vs. Karachi Whites at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore:

Karachi Whites began the day at 21 for five in nine overs and added 140 more runs to their total, ultimately being dismissed for 161 in 42 overs. Sarfaraz Ahmed played a captain’s innings, scoring a crucial half-century with 51 runs from 70 balls. His efforts were supported by Asad Shafiq (46) and Noman Ali (37 not out). Leg-spinner Usman Qadir was the standout bowler for Lahore Blues, grabbing four wickets, while Ali Shafiq and Hunain Shah claimed three wickets each.

In response, Lahore Blues managed 148 runs for the loss of six wickets in 40 overs. Notable contributions came from Hashim Ibraheem (51) and Qasim Akram (36 not out). Bowlers Mir Hamza and Noman Ali took two wickets each.

Rawalpindi vs. Multan at Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi:

After a day’s play was called off on day two, Rawalpindi reached a total of 150 runs for the loss of two wickets in 43 overs. Zeeshan Malik led the way with a well-compiled half-century, scoring 56 runs from 80 balls, while Umar Amin remained unbeaten on 44 from 63 deliveries. Bowlers Ali Usman and Mohammad Imran managed to claim one wicket each.

Lahore Whites vs. Faisalabad at Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi:

In the match at Pindi Cricket Stadium, Lahore Whites resumed from their overnight score of 171 for eight and eventually reached 245 runs in 52.1 overs before being bowled out. The main contributors with the bat were Ali Zaryab Asif (51) and Aamir Jamal (43 not out). In response, Faisalabad posted 238 runs in 59 overs, with Mohammad Huraira leading the way with 87 runs. Mohammad Irfan Khan (42 not out) and Ali Waqas (40 not out) remained unbeaten. Aamir Jamal was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets.

FATA vs. Peshawar at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium:

Due to adverse weather conditions, the day’s play between FATA and Peshawar at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium was called off.
