Khuda aur Muhabbat is clearly the most awaited show of the year. The show generated fan frenzy and anticipation around it ever since it was first announced last year. After the success of the previous seasons, expectations are high and fans are excited to witness another beautiful tale of love. After the first few teasers, Geo TV released the official OST of Khuda aur Muhabbat on their YouTube channel, and its video crossed a million views in less than 24 hours.
The video opens with sweeping shots of Multan’s rustic architecture, where a major part of the show has been shot, along with blue and orange skies that instantly add a sense of otherworldly beauty to the show. We are then introduced to our lead protagonist draped in black, sitting devoutly at a dargah, reminiscing about his past, and how his life took a turn that brought him where he is presently.
The video goes back into a flashback to show us how this tale of love began for these two lovers. Farhad is a young guy who is immediately smitten by Mahi, our female protagonist, when he sees her for the first time. Even though she is draped in an abaya and her face is covered in a veil, it’s her eyes that grab Farhad’s attention, and he is unable to shake off her image from his mind.
The video has sprawling shots that capture the beauty of Southern Punjab from Multan, to Bahawalpur and Lahore. The cinematography uses scenic views and expanding landscapes as a driving element in the story’s narrative.
We learn that Farhad and Mahi belong to affluent and influential families. Their eyes meet, their paths cross, but somehow the two always keep their distance with each other. We see Farhad and Mahi at a wedding where he has eyes only for her. Her smile fills him up with light and he finds solace in being around her. Just their love begins to blossom, Mahi is married off to someone else. A distraught Farhad ends up at a dargah, where we find him in the beginning. He spends his nights yearning for Mahi, whose heart pines for Farhad and she is unable to forget him. All of this happens in the melodious and heart wrenching voice of the musical maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan as he sings this ballad of love, longing, lament and loneliness. If there was anyone who could have done justice to this track, it was him.
That’s all we’re going to tell you about the OST. If you want to know more, check out the video right now. The video for the OST does complete justice to the grandeur and scale of the show.
