Pakistan Shaheens put on a commanding display with both bat and ball against Bangladesh A, setting a formidable target of 428 on day three of the first four-day match at the DXC Arena. Bangladesh A ended the day at 20-0 in seven overs, requiring another 408 runs to win.

Resuming their innings at the overnight score of 203-4, Bangladesh A struggled to build momentum, eventually succumbing to 266 all out in 76.2 overs. Shahadat Hossain remained unbeaten on 36, with Rejaur Rehman Raja (32 off 18 balls, 4x4s) the only other notable contributor. The visitors added a mere 63 runs for their last six wickets, trailing by 201 runs.

Test fast bowler Khurram Shahzad was the standout performer for Pakistan Shaheens, claiming five wickets in the first session to finish with figures of 6-72 in 21.2 overs, marking his sixth five-wicket haul in first-class cricket. Mohammad Ali supported well with 2-64 in 22 overs, while Shahnawaz Dahani chipped in with one wicket.

Starting their second innings with a lead of 201 runs, Pakistan Shaheens faced early setbacks as Haseebullah was dismissed for a six-ball duck, and Sahibzada Farhan followed soon after with a score of eight, leaving the team at 20-2 in 5.1 overs.

However, a robust partnership between Omair Bin Yousuf and Mubasir Khan stabilized the innings. Omair (100 not out off 123 balls, 6x4s, 2x6s) and Mubasir (95 off 134 balls, 8x4s, 1×6), promoted up the order, shared a 170-run stand for the third wicket. Omair’s century marked his 11th in first-class cricket, achieved in his 50th match. Mubasir narrowly missed out on his fourth century in the format.

Following Omair’s century, the Shaheens declared their innings at 226-3 in 47.2 overs, setting Bangladesh A a daunting target of 428 runs. Bangladesh’s bowlers struggled, with Ripon Mondol, Rejaur Rehman, and Mukidul Islam each picking up one wicket.
