Lahore and Karachi Share National Women’s T20 Tournament Title

In a rather unusual turn of events, Lahore and Karachi were crowned joint champions of the National Women’s T20 Tournament 2023-24 after the final match was abandoned due to rain, leaving both teams with a share of the coveted title. The prize money of PKR 1.5 million was divided equally between the two deserving teams.

Having dominated the league stage, Lahore emerged as the table-toppers with an impeccable 10-game winning streak. Karachi, on the other hand, secured their spot in the final by clinching a close victory over Rawalpindi, propelled by a superior net run rate.

The captains of Rawalpindi and Multan, Aliya Riaz and Gull Feroza, respectively, were jointly awarded the title of Players of the Tournament. Their stellar performances throughout the tournament earned them this prestigious accolade, with both players receiving five Player of the Match awards, the highest tally in the competition.

Aliya Riaz showcased her prowess with the bat and ball, accumulating 370 runs in 10 matches while also claiming 10 wickets. Meanwhile, Gull Feroza dazzled with the bat, amassing an impressive total of 479 runs, complemented by five dismissals behind the stumps.

Sidra Amin from Lahore was recognized as the Best Batter of the Tournament for her outstanding contribution of 494 runs in 10 matches, which included three half-centuries and a century. Ghulam Fatima, Lahore’s leg-spinner, emerged as the Best Bowler of the Tournament, scalping an astonishing 21 wickets in 10 games at a remarkable average of 8.24 and an economy rate of just 4.44.

Adding to Lahore’s dominance, Sidra Nawaz was awarded the title of Best Wicketkeeper of the Tournament for her exceptional performance behind the stumps, accounting for a total of 15 dismissals, comprising six catches and nine stumpings.
