Lahore Qalandars, the renowned cricket team that clinched back-to-back titles in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), is now setting the stage for the future with a groundbreaking collaboration. In a significant move, Lahore Qalandars has signed an agreement with the University of Lahore to establish a cutting-edge High-Performance Centre. This partnership goes beyond cricket, introducing a “Diploma in Sports Sciences” program that benefits both students and aspiring athletes.

Lahore Qalandars, representing hope, resilience, and unity in the cricketing sphere, remains committed to nurturing talent and striving for excellence. With this collaborative initiative, they aim to bridge the gap between education and sports, offering players alternative pathways to pursue sports and education concurrently.

Atif Rana, CEO of Lahore Qalandars, expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership: “We’re delighted to announce our partnership with the University of Lahore. We’re confident that amazing results will come from this partnership, offering players alternative paths to train and educate themselves in sports and education.”

The University of Lahore (UOL) is equally excited about this partnership and its potential to advance Pakistan’s national cricket. The UOL-Qalandars High-Performance Centre (UOL-QHPC), set to be developed under this collaboration, will boast state-of-the-art facilities. This facility will feature a cricket ground with broadcast-level floodlights, housing facilities, gymnasium, indoor and outdoor practice facilities, swimming pool, sports shop, and other recreational amenities.

Key highlights of this collaboration include:
1. UOL-QHPC Establishment: The University of Lahore will create a top-notch facility known as the UOL-Qalandars High-Performance Centre, providing professional cricket training facilities.

  1. Diploma in Sports Sciences: Both parties will offer a “Diploma in Sports Sciences” program aimed at providing comprehensive education in sports sciences, training, and management.

  2. International Collaborations: Lahore Qalandars and UOL will seek partnerships with international institutes and sports clubs to promote cross-cultural exchanges and foster international sports excellence.

The Lahore Qalandars Player Development Program is notably inclusive and extends to women’s cricket, allowing female cricketers to showcase their talent and have an equal opportunity to participate in the sport. The program has already produced some of Pakistan’s most notable cricketing talents, and it has garnered international attention, with English county Yorkshire also seeking to adopt elements from this pioneering system.

The Lahore Qalandars-UOL collaboration not only signifies a significant step forward in promoting cricket but also serves as a model for inclusive, comprehensive, and high-quality sports education. It promises to benefit not just Pakistan but cricket boards and academies worldwide. With a deep commitment to the sport, Lahore Qalandars and University of Lahore have set a precedent for excellence that the world of cricket can look up to.
