Sameen Rana, the Chief Operating Officer of Lahore Qalandars, recently spoke about the unique feature of the team’s training shirts for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season. The back of the shirts will display the meanings of the players’ names, a concept that Rana believes can have a positive impact on a player’s personality.
Rana gave the example of fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, whose name means “eagle.” According to Rana, Shaheen’s aggressive style of play, attacking the stumps with his fast deliveries, embodies the spirit of an eagle. Similarly, all-rounder David Wiese’s name, which means “beloved,” is a reflection of the love and affection he has earned from his teammates and fans.
The decision to display the meanings of players’ names on the training shirts is a new initiative by Lahore Qalandars and is aimed at promoting the players’ identities and fostering a sense of unity within the team.
Rana stated, “We believe that names have a significant impact on one’s personality and we want to highlight the unique qualities and characteristics of each player through this initiative.”
The new training shirts of Lahore Qalandars are already generating buzz among fans and the team hopes that this initiative will further strengthen the bond between the players and the fans.
