Lahore Qalandars, the two-time Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions, have embarked on an ambitious initiative to expand the reach of their renowned Qalandars High Performance Center to universities. This strategic move aims to foster a new generation of cricketing talent and is part of the franchise’s broader vision to enhance sports education and provide advanced training facilities to aspiring athletes at the grassroots level.
As a significant milestone in this expansion, the Qalandars High Performance Center is being relocated to the University of Lahore. This partnership marks a pivotal step towards integrating world-class cricket training with academic excellence. The state-of-the-art facilities at the University of Lahore will now serve as the new hub for developing future cricket stars, ensuring that student-athletes receive comprehensive support both on and off the field.
In addition to the University of Lahore partnership, Lahore Qalandars signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NED University of Engineering and Technology in Karachi this past May. Under this agreement, the NED-Qalandars High Performance Center is also under construction and will commence operations soon. This collaboration further solidifies the Qalandars’ commitment to nurturing cricketing talent across Pakistan and underscores the franchise’s dedication to promoting sports education and excellence throughout the country.
Aqib Javed, Director of Cricket Operations at Lahore Qalandars, emphasized the importance of these partnerships. “Our vision is to create a robust pipeline of talent by providing young cricketers with the best possible training facilities and educational support. By partnering with prestigious institutions like the University of Lahore and NED University, we are ensuring that aspiring athletes have access to top-tier coaching and academic resources.”
