Lake City has officially acquired the naming rights for the Panthers in the upcoming Champions One-Day Cup, which will take place from 12-29 September at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium. The team will now be known as the Lake City Panthers throughout the tournament.
The Lake City Panthers, mentored by legendary spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, will compete in the highly anticipated domestic cricket tournament, which showcases some of Pakistan’s top cricketing talent. The Panthers are one of the key teams in the competition, joining other sponsored sides such as Stallions, Lions, and Markhors (formerly Wolves).
Lake City’s sponsorship emphasizes the growing trend of corporate backing in domestic cricket, with brands playing a pivotal role in supporting teams and the tournament as a whole. PCB’s Chief Operating Officer, Salman Naseer, expressed gratitude for Lake City’s involvement, saying, “The support from sponsors like Lake City is crucial for the development of cricket at the domestic level. Their partnership with the Panthers will add excitement and motivation for the players.”
The Lake City Panthers will face the UMT Markhors in the opening match today, marking the start of an exciting tournament.
