Los Angeles Knight Riders and MI New York Announce Powerhouse Squads for Inaugural MLC Season

Knight Riders Group, a renowned cricket brand, is all set to make its mark in the debut season of Major League Cricket (MLC) with the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR). Representing Los Angeles and the Southern California region, LAKR will bring their world-class cricket expertise to the historic event.

In another exciting development, MI New York, part of the Mumbai Indians franchise, has finalized their squad for the upcoming season. The team announced the signing of nine international players, completing a well-rounded roster of 18 players. The MI New York team boasts a combination of experienced players, promising young talents, and homegrown cricketers. This diverse mix of players represents different continents, countries, and leagues.

The Los Angeles Knight Riders have made impressive strides to assemble a strong and competitive team for the inaugural MLC season. The franchise has successfully recruited some of the most talented cricketers from around the world. The international players in their squad include stars like Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Adam Zampa, Jason Roy, Lockie Ferguson, Martin Guptill, and Rilee Rossouw. Additionally, the drafted players include Ali Khan, Ali Sheikh, Bhaskar Yadram, Corne Dry, Jaskaran Malhotra, Nitish Kumar, Saif Badar, Shadley Van Schalkwyk, and Unmukt Chand.

Leading the MI New York team will be the legendary Kieron Pollard, who has been an integral part of the Mumbai Indians franchise. Joining him will be Rashid Khan, the T20 captain of Afghanistan, and former West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran. The team will also feature renowned players such as Trent Boult, Tim David, Jason Behrendorff, Dewald Brevis, Kagiso Rabada, and David Wiese. These players have not only excelled in their respective countries but have also showcased their skills across multiple MI Teams globally.

During the MLC draft held on March 19, 2023, MI New York added nine players to their roster. This included the first two USA-born players, former captain Steven Taylor, all-rounder Nosthush Kenjige, current USA captain Monank Patel, along with wicketkeeper Shayan Jahangir and fast bowler Kyle Phillip.

It’s important to note that each squad in MLC can have a maximum of 19 players, with nine being overseas players. The playing XI can consist of a maximum of six international players, with five domestic players in each match. Additionally, each roster must include ten domestic players at all times. The overseas players are directly signed by the franchises and were not part of the draft process.

As cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the start of the MLC season, the presence of Knight Riders Group and Mumbai Indians in this exciting venture adds a new level of anticipation and promises an exceptional cricketing spectacle.
