Host of Lahore News’ show Top Story, Madiha Abid Ali shared her story on being impersonated on social media affected her life.
Ali revealed the activities of a 16-year-old boy who had several accounts on social media platforms. She said:
“The schoolboy was directly involved in extorting money from innocent citizens while he was pretending to be me. The person is not only deceiving people but also damaging my life and reputation. I am not revealing the boy’s face because I think by doing so, he might have difficulties to complete his education. Moreover, I want him to be educated so that he can study law and never get involved in such activities.”
In response to Madiha’s complaint, the federal investigation agency Lahore region traced the culprit and took action against him.
According to the agency, “The alleged person used to create fake accounts of reputed persons using their pictures taken from their personal Facebook account. The 16-year-old was also involved in extorting money in the form of recharge cards of cellular networks.”
