Pakistani actress Mahira Khan , who gained popularity in India with the Pakistani serial Humsafar would be joining Shah Rukh as his leading lady from August when the second schedule of Raees begins.
There was speculation about whether the actress from across the border would be able to join the Raees crew, considering the escalated disputes between India and Pakistan.
As per a source close to the project,
“Yes, there was problem, and concerns were expressed among the film’s producers Farhan Akhtar Ritesh Sidhwani and team, as to how Mahiracould be expected to be present in Mumbai when required.”
Mahira’s visa issues are all sorted now. Apparently Shah Rukh Khan’s names being associated with the project helped get Mahira the necessary permission to be in Mumbai post-monsoon.
Says the source.
“Mahira joins Raees for the second schedule from August. She has already interacted briefly with Shah Rukh who instantly put her at ease when he spoke to her.Mahira is a huge SRK fan. She can’t wait to start shooting with the superstar.”
