The Markhors have secured their spot in the final of the Champions One-Day Cup after their Eliminator clash against the Lions was washed out due to rain at the Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, on Friday. Under the tournament’s qualification rules, in the event of a washout during the play-offs, the team with a higher standing at the conclusion of the league stage progresses to the next round.
The Markhors, who topped the points table with three wins, one loss, and a total of 38 points, were the clear favorites to advance. In contrast, the Lions finished fourth, managing only one win and three losses, accumulating 12 points. The league-stage performance sealed the Markhors’ place in the final without a ball being bowled in the crucial Eliminator.
The Markhors will now face the Lake City Panthers in the final, scheduled for 29 September at the Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, with the match set to begin at 3pm local time.
