The action packed larger than life Pakistani movie trailer of ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’, which dropped on 14th August and has gained 100s of reaction videos ever since from Indians and Sikh Punjabi fans from all over the world has unlocked a new level of social media mentions. The hashtag #MaulaJatt2022 has generated over 30 crore video views globally on TikTok, making it the first Pakistani or Punjabi film ever that has generated this much buzz. This kind of hype and social media talk has never been seen around any Pakistani or Punjabi film ever.
TLOMJ has been directed by Bilal Lashari, known for his directorial debut with ‘Waar’ and produced by Ammara Hikmat under the joint venture of Encyclomedia & Lashari Films in association with AAA Motion Pictures. With a screenplay by Bilal Lashari and dialogues by Nasir Adeeb, the movie is a hard reboot of the 1979 classic ‘Maula Jatt’. Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Humaima Malick, Ali Azmat, Mirza Gohar Rasheed and Faris Shafi are some of the leading names from the ensemble cast of the film.
The filmmakers have partnered with Geo Films as their presenting partner, the largest media group and key contributor to the revival of cinema in Pakistan. The film will be locally distributed by Nadeem Mandviwalla of Mandviwalla Entertainment, a well respected contributor to Pakistani over the decades. Internationally the film will be distributed by MovieGoers Entertainment.
