This is certainly different. Junaid Khan and Hira Mani were on our screens not too long ago with the super hit play Kashf. That was a fairly unique story that showed a constant tussle between worldly love and spirituality. So, when their new drama Mohabbatein Chahatein started, it seemed like a feel-good romantic story with a twist. So far, it hasn’t disappointed.
For starters, the chemistry between Faraz (Junaid Khan) and Sneha (Hira Mani) was terrific initially. They play a couple who has been married for a while, but the two actors still bring a special energy and zip to the characters. Despite having been married for quite a period, the flame of romance is still burning bright; that is the message. Sneha and Faraz seem the complete opposite of the roles the duo played in Kashf. However, there were subtle hints at potential problems showcased by Faraz, which lays the foundation of what we see in later episodes.
Junaid Khan does a stellar job of being vulnerable enough and talking about the pressure of life. The Call vocalist is able to allow the audience in and show them what lies beneath the surface as Faraz. With each episode, a new cover comes off. It’s down to the acting skills of the man.
This again is important when you see Faraz moving towards Tara (Armeena Rana Khan). Life seemed fine for Faraz. All was cool, right? Well, not quite. In the world of Faraz and Sneha, Tara (Armeena Rana Khan) comes along like a train wreck. But seemingly, Faraz is believing and trusting Tara. The subtle expressions and phrases that dotted Faraz’s anger and desperation initially, now reflecting in his actions.
As an actor, Junaid Khan sets up that pathway. He ensures that the audience understands the circumstances which lead to him questioning things in his life. We are not sure which way things will go, going forward. But thus far, it has been Junaid’s performance, which has us hooked, no question about it.
