Mohammad Ali’s Six-Fer Puts Pakistan Shaheens in Strong Position Against Bangladesh ‘A’

Fast bowler Mohammad Ali delivered a remarkable performance, taking six wickets and restricting Bangladesh ‘A’ to 216 runs in their second innings. This set Pakistan Shaheens a target of 296 runs on day three of the second four-day match at the DXC Arena.

At stumps on day three, Shaheens needed 160 more runs to win, finishing at 136-4 in 37 overs. Skipper Sahibzada Farhan led the charge with a brisk 68 off 70 balls, including 10 fours and two sixes, forming a solid 96-run opening partnership with Haseebullah, who remained unbeaten on 44 off 98 balls.

Bangladesh ‘A’ bowlers managed to remove Kamran Ghulam and Umar Amin for ducks, reducing Shaheens to 100-3. Mohammad Irfan Khan contributed 15 runs before his dismissal. Tayyab Tahir (4 not out) joined Haseebullah at the crease, and the pair will resume batting on the final day, needing 160 runs to win.

Rejaur Rehman Raja took two wickets, while Hasan Murad and Mahmudul Hasan Joy each claimed one.

Bangladesh ‘A’ Second Innings Recap

Resuming from their overnight score of 84-3, Bangladesh ‘A’ added 132 runs before being bowled out for 216 in 70.1 overs, setting a lead of 295 runs. Mahmudul Hasan Joy (65 off 118 balls) and Aich Mollah (58 off 123 balls) scored half-centuries.

Mohammad Ali broke a 39-run fourth-wicket stand by dismissing Mahmudul in the 37th over. He also claimed Shadman Islam for a duck. Mollah and Shahadat Hossain (33 off 55 balls) then added a crucial 63-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Khurram Shahzad dismissed Shahadat, leaving Bangladesh ‘A’ at 180-6.

Ali’s marathon seven-over spell resulted in a six-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 6-63 in 24.1 overs. His double strike in the 64th over and subsequent wickets dismantled the Bangladesh ‘A’ tail.

Khurram Shahzad picked up three wickets, while Faisal Akram claimed one.
