Mohammad Amir Assures PCB That Betting Company Won’t Use His Image

Fast bowler Mohammad Amir has reassured the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that the betting company he previously engaged with will not utilize his image for its advertising campaign following his inclusion in the Pakistan team.

The PCB cautioned Amir regarding the government’s prohibition on agreements with betting companies, emphasizing the importance of not participating in any such advertisement.

A spokesperson for the PCB clarified that Amir had indicated an existing agreement with the company. However, he assured the board that the company would not use his images for promotion in the future. Additionally, the company has promptly removed Amir’s videos from its social media platforms, indicating possible termination of the agreement, potentially through the return of any agreed-upon compensation.

Despite Amir’s assurances to the PCB, he has faced criticism from cricket enthusiasts on social media. Last year, Amir entered into an agreement for social media promotion with a betting company, agreeing to promote it with 60 posts for Rs. 12.5 million.

The recent controversy emerged when the betting company shared Amir’s old photoshoot, conducted during his retirement, on social media. This move reignited discussions about Amir’s association with the company and raised concerns about the potential misuse of his image in promotional activities.

As Amir navigates this scrutiny, his commitment to complying with regulatory guidelines and ethical standards in his endorsements remains under public scrutiny.
