The cricketing stage at Lauderhill, Florida, witnessed a dazzling display as former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez shone brightly with the bat, propelling the Texas Chargers to a convincing 8-wicket triumph over Morrisville Unity in the Eliminator match of the inaugural US Masters T10 tournament. The Chargers’ victory was marked by Hafeez’s exceptional performance, guiding his team to a victory with 9 balls to spare.

Batting first, Morrisville Unity encountered an early setback with the departure of Jonathan Foo for 9 runs. However, Shehan Jayasuriya and Obus Pienaar built a solid foundation for their team. Their quick-paced partnership of 42 runs came to an end as Jayasuriya was dismissed for 21, just before the halfway mark of the innings.

Pienaar and Corey Anderson continued their mission to accumulate runs rapidly, propelling the Unity’s score to 88/2 after 7 overs. The stage was set for the batters to unleash their attacking prowess in the final overs. In the 9th over, Pienaar reached his half-century, and Unity’s total crossed the 100-run mark.

With Anderson’s departure for 22 in the final over, Unity concluded their innings at 115/5. The final over saw the loss of Pienaar and Navin Stewart’s wickets as well, adding to the Chargers’ momentum.

In response, the Texas Chargers’ openers, Mohammad Hafeez and Mukhtar Ahmed, launched a blazing start. Hafeez’s assault on Sreesanth’s second over resulted in two sixes and three fours, driving the Chargers forward in the initial stages of their chase.

By the end of the fourth over, the openers had amassed six sixes and five fours, propelling the score to 66/0 and surpassing the halfway point of the target. At the halfway stage, the Chargers required only 34 runs for victory, with Hafeez showcasing his prowess and the openers inching toward a century partnership.
