I want to bowl fast at the World Cup: fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain

Pakistan announced 15-member squad for the world cup 2019. The Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq also included rookie fast bowler, Muhammad Hasnain in the squad.

The young Hussnain made his first-class debut for PTV against Multan in September and picked up three wickets. He went wicket-less in his second match though. and recently shot to fame during PSL 2019 with his ability to bowl at a pace of 150 kmh. Hasnain who is termed as the surprise package of Pakistan World Cup 2019 camping is very excited to be part of the grand stage team.

“I want to bowl fast, as fast as I can to contribute to Pakistan team’s campaign,” said fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain.

If all go well and he gets a chance to play at CWC 2019 then he will become the first cricketer from Hyderabad to represent Pakistan at ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. About chances of Hasnain to be included in the playing 11 at a world cup game, head coach Mickey Arthur said in his pre-departure press conference, “We are hoping to play him four games at the world cup.”

Pakistan under-15 team’s former coach Mohammad Masroor says Waugh predicted a bright future for the two when he saw them in action during a tour to Australia in 2015.

“We did well on the tour and during one of the matches at the Bradman Ground near Sydney, Steve Waugh came to watch his son Austin and when he saw Shaheen and Hasnain in action, he predicted the two boys would make an impact at the international level,” Masroor recalls.

Mohammad Hasnain who made his ODI debut against Australia this year and fulfilled the prediction of  Steve Waugh recalls his meeting with former Australian captain, “We met Steve Waugh when Shaheen and I were part of Pakistan U19 campaign and he predicted that Shaheen and I will make big. I am grateful to him for his kind words and also I am very happy and excited that his prediction has started to prove right.”

“World Cup is a grand stage and big opportunity for any youngster to make most of this opportunity and that is what I am eyeing right now. Every game and every wicket is going to be a world cup game and world cup wicket. Hence I am not focusing any particular game and any particular wicket. My focus is to get as many wickets as possible and win as many matches for Pakistan,” said the speedster.

Pakistan team got chance to meet prime minister of Pakistan and World Cup winner Imran Khan last Friday, Hasnain shares his experience of meeting the PM, “obviously, it was exciting to meet the Prime Minister who is also a cricket legend and for a youngster like me, it is very motivating. PM Imran Khan really motivated us and gave some handy tips for fast bowling and how to keep winning attitude alive.”

Pakistan team is now in England to prepare for cricket World Cup as well as play five-match ODI series and a T20I against England.
