Mohammad Rizwan Appointed Pakistan’s White-Ball Captain, Salman Ali Agha Named Vice-Captain for Australia and Zimbabwe Tours

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan as Pakistan’s white-ball captain, with Salman Ali Agha as vice-captain, ahead of the team’s ODI and T20I tours of Australia and Zimbabwe from 4 November to 5 December. In Zimbabwe, Salman will lead the T20I side as Rizwan takes a break for workload management.

Rizwan, 32, has been a key presence in Pakistan’s limited-overs setup since his debut in 2015, amassing 5,401 runs and 143 dismissals across 74 ODIs and 102 T20Is. He will begin his captaincy journey in the ODI series opener against Australia in Melbourne on 4 November, becoming Pakistan’s 31st ODI captain. His T20I captaincy debut will follow on 14 November in Brisbane.

Expressing his pride, Rizwan remarked, “Representing Pakistan on the global stage is the greatest privilege, and leading such a talented group of players is an honor. I am committed to giving my absolute best and working closely with the selectors, coaches, and teammates to meet the high expectations of our fans.”

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi extended his congratulations, emphasizing Rizwan’s dedication and leadership qualities: “Rizwan’s commitment to the game and positive attitude will inspire the team. We are optimistic that under his leadership, Pakistan’s white-ball team will be a formidable force on the international stage.”

The ODI squad will kick off the tour in Australia on 4 November, while the T20I series starts on 14 November. The team will then travel to Zimbabwe, where Rizwan will lead the ODIs, and Salman will take charge for the T20Is.
