Mohammad Suleman and Umar Amin Shine with Centuries; Salman Ali Agha and Shoaib Akhtar Impress with Bowling

The opening day of the sixth round in the President’s Trophy Grade I 2023-24 witnessed stellar performances from batsmen and bowlers alike across three venues in Karachi.

WAPDA vs. Ghani Glass at State Bank of Pakistan Sports Complex:

WAPDA, opting to bat first, posted a total of 212 runs in 60.1 overs, with Ayaz Tasawar leading the charge with a resilient 81 runs. However, their innings was met with fierce bowling from Ghani Glass’s Shoaib Akhtar, who claimed an impressive five-wicket haul.

In response, Ghani Glass found themselves struggling at 45 for six at stumps, courtesy of a brilliant bowling display from WAPDA’s Ali Shafique, who scalped four wickets.

KRL vs. PTV at UBL Sports Complex, Karachi:

PTV put up a commanding total of 360 for eight in their allotted 80 overs, fueled by a splendid century from Mohammad Suleman, well-supported by Waqar Hussain, Jahandad Khan, and Muhammad Shahzad. KRL’s Ahmed Bashir was the pick of the bowlers, clinching three crucial wickets.

SBP vs. HEC at National Bank Stadium, Karachi:

HEC struggled to find their footing, managing only 95 runs in their innings, with Salman Ali Agha wreaking havoc with his five-wicket haul for SBP. In response, SBP showcased a dominant batting display, led by an unbeaten century from Umar Amin and a solid half-century from Rameez Aziz, propelling them to 188 for three at stumps.

As the tournament progresses, these standout performances set the stage for an exciting competition ahead, promising thrilling encounters in the days to come.
