Mohsin Abbas Haider, Nazish Jahangir are coming together for a drama

Actor, singer and writer Mohsin Abbas Haider made his musical comeback in November 2019, over a month after the dissolution of his marriage with Fatima Sohail following accusations of domestic abuse.

He then announced his big-screen comeback in February 2020 with an Abu Aleeha film titled Once Upon a Time in Karachi. Mohsin took to Instagram to share the news but naturally, the announcement was not well received in light of the allegations leveled against him.

Nevertheless, the teaser for the film released in May, and no further update has been announced since. Aside from Mohsin, the film is also set to feature Nausheen Shah, Marhoom Ahmed Bilal, Masroor Paras, and Saleem Meraj.

And now it has come to light that Mohsin will be returning to the small screen with a television serial starring opposite Nazish Jahangir – the very actor his former wife, Fatema Sohail – accused him of having an affair with.

He shared the news on his Instagram story yesterday with a picture from the set of the upcoming serial. The picture was originally shared by the serial’s director Sohail Javed on Facebook, featuring both Mohsin and Nazish in the same frame.

Titled Ghamandi, the serial is produced by Adnan Siddiqui and is a ‘family drama’ according to the director. “We can’t reveal much about it right now but the teaser is going to be out soon. It is a family drama starring Mohsin and Nazish, so we’re all pretty excited,” Sohail told The Express Tribune.

Apart from Sohail, the Meray Paas Tum Ho actor and serial’s producer, Adnan also discussed the backlash attached to Mohsin’s return and revealed why it did not matter to him.

“First of all, I don’t think what Mohsin did should’ve been in the papers, to begin with,” opined the MOM actor. “That’s a debate I don’t want to get into but I feel that people are just going to enjoy or take pleasure from your misery. Nobody wants to help you.”

He then explained why he believes that irrespective of whatever a person has done, they should be given a second chance. “Hypothetically speaking, if you do not give a chance to someone who deserves it – just because of their personal life – aren’t you making them a patient of repression?” asked Adnan.

“You’ve punished him enough, he had also lost his show. But we are no one to stop anyone from earning. When we are not the providers of livelihood why should we be the ones taking it away?” the CEO of Cereal entertainment continued to ask.

Nevertheless, an FIR was lodged against Mohsin by his former wife in July last year. Fatima had also uploaded pictures of her bruises on social media to validate her claim but Mohsin had denied all allegations saying, “She is trying to play the woman card. It is true I had anger issues in the past but I’m a changed man.”
