Morne Morkel, former South African fast bowler, has tendered his resignation as the bowling coach of the Pakistan Men’s cricket team. The announcement comes after Morkel served in the coaching role on a six-month contract since June 2023. His departure marks the end of his tenure with the team, which began with the Test series against Sri Lanka.
Morne Morkel brought his wealth of experience to the coaching role, aiming to contribute to the development and performance of Pakistan’s bowling unit. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will soon reveal the appointment of Morkel’s successor, and the new coach will inherit the responsibility of shaping the bowling attack.
Morkel’s first assignment involved guiding the bowlers during the Pakistan team’s tour to Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series. His coaching stint coincided with the team’s preparations and performances, leaving an impact on the players.
As the PCB embarks on the search for a new bowling coach, the upcoming challenge for the team is a three-match Test series against Australia, set to commence on December 14, 2023, and conclude on January 7, 2024, in Australia. The cricketing community eagerly awaits the announcement of the new coach, as the team looks forward to continuing its cricketing journey under fresh guidance.
