Fashion label Morri hosted a private viewing of their debut collection “The Seven Steps to Baltiyul” as the inaugural exhibition at the Pakistan Fashion Design Council’s new space, The PFDC Fashion Active, in Lahore.
The occasion was attended and supporting by the PFDC Council including chairperson Sehyr Saigol and CEO Saad Ali along with stalwarts from Pakistan’s design community including Kamiar Rokni, Nilofer Shahid, Khadijah Shah, Rana Roman Haq, Zara Shahjahan, Asifa Imran, Akif Mahmood and Rehan Bashir, along with Morri’s across the textile fraternity, social set and media. The event was designed by Shazreh Khalid of Zareen & Shazreh Khalid Events.
“The Seven Steps to Baltiyul” was a visual portrayal of a contemporary woman’s memoir as she travels through the highest peaks and deepest rivers to her final destination, in the heart of northern Pakistan region, Baltistan, more commonly known as Baltiyul. Synonymous with the inspiration, the color palette of this debut collection rangedfrom deep midnight hues to dusky blush with deep accents of river teal, iris essence balanced with twilight ivory and champagne mist. The Seven Steps to Baltiyul offers a variety of silhouettes appealing to a contemporary womanand comprises of kimonos, tunics, tail coats, crop jackets, petal sleeves, flared skirts, tapered pants and full length attires.
On the occasion of the brand’s debut exhibition, Amna Zaidi, Business Head at Morri said “Morri takes its design inspiration from global art and design and through our work we celebrate the fusion of sub continental heritage with that which is current, paying tribute to the modern woman who embraces her independence, beauty and confidence. The label ‘Morri’ [deriving its title from Bombyx mori, a silkworm] is a team of three individuals; Shad Mustafa [CEO], Amna Zaidi [Business Head] and Hammad Sadiq[Creative Head]. Both Shad and Amna are business graduates from the Institute of Business Administration & University of London respectively, while Hammad is a graduate from The Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD).
The new collection is available to now available to order at brands flagship studio at 15-L, 2nd Floor, Commercial Area, Phase 1, DHA, Lahore.
