Penned down by Iqbal Bano, directed by Shehrazade Sheikh, and produced by 7th Sky Entertainment, Muqaddar is a captivating serial with an engaging story. Starring Faisal Qureshi, Madiha Imam, Ali Ansari, Ayesha Gul, and Haroon Shahid in pivotal roles, Muqaddar is a play that exposes the hostile practices by feudal lords in our country. It also provides an account of how wealth, power, and influence enable such people to have things their way.
Muqaddar begins with the story of a young empowered girl Raima who lives with her uncle, aunt, and cousin Haris as her parents are not alive. Haris (Ali Ansari) and Raima (Madiha Imam) are like two peas in a pod; they love each other and understand each other. However, their love story meets a setback when Sardar Saif-ur-Rehman (Faisal Qureshi) crosses path with Raima and gets attracted to her. Saif ur Rehman has a wife and daughter, Abeera, who is engaged to her cousin Saad (Haroon Shahid). Saad, on the other hand, secretly loves Raima, who is his class fellow.
After Saif ur Rehman falls for Raima, he sends a proposal to her uncle, but knowing that Haris and Raima love each other, he refuses, and hence, Saif ur Rehman abducts Raima. Saif ur Rehman kidnaps Haris too and threatens Raima that he will kill Haris if she doesn’t get married to him. Hence, to save Haris, she agrees to marry him and later convinces Haris that she betrayed him for Saif ur Rehman, since she sees a bright future and luxurious life for herself with the marriage.
Nineteen episodes down, Muqaddar continues to impress us. There are a number of subplots too that work alongside the main story to make it more interesting. The direction of the serial is also on-point with no glaring flaws. Madiha Imam and Faisal Qureshi shine bright in their respective roles. Both of them justify the demands of their roles and make you look forward to finding out what will happen next in the story.
