The TV host and actress Najia Beyg recently took to her social media to write a very heartfelt note about self-realisation and embracing one’s insecurities.
Najia Wrote:
“I know there have been a lot of People talking about the same issue I am about to put here, but I see it very offensive and degrading for many and it is high time to change the mindset. Being a Muslim it is our belief that whatever we have we should be thankful for it as for many it is just a dream or a wish, our complexion is something that is God given us.”
In her note Najia criticized TV commercials promoting skin whitening and other standards of beauty:
“Often we see a lot of TV commercials of skin whitening products and it disgusts me that ppl who don’t have fair complexion should try to change their skin colour by using such products because their complexion is not right, not acceptable or not how people want to see them. It is humiliating and very disturbing for me and for many others also.”
She ended her note by announcing a boycott to such advertisements and products, she wrote:
“So I here boycott such ads and products. And I request you all to love yourself for what you have because that is YOU and YOU are beautiful and charming.”
