The Colombo Strikers displayed a remarkable performance, securing their first victory against B-Love Kandy in a thrilling encounter at the Lanka Premier League 2023 held at R. Premadasa Stadium on Monday. With an impressive total of 157-6 in the first innings, the Strikers showcased their prowess in bowling, limiting Kandy to a meager score of 130-8, thanks to the outstanding performances of Naseem Shah and Matheesha Pathirana. The dynamic duo combined to take five wickets, conceding only 43 runs in their eight overs.
In a challenging batting track, Pakistan Captain Babar Azam emerged as the star performer, holding the Strikers’ innings together with a composed knock of 59 off 52 balls. Speaking about his team’s performance, Babar Azam revealed that they adapted to the two-paced pitch and focused on building partnerships early on. He anticipated the pitch to favor spinners after 10 overs, and after the 15th over, they aimed to put pressure on the opponents.
Babar Azam lauded the standout performance of Naseem Shah, whose fiery first spell set the tone for the entire innings, providing the Strikers with a crucial advantage. Shah’s fiery pace and impeccable accuracy made it difficult for the Kandy team to handle.
