NCOC ends PCR test for vaccinated travelers

According to the reports, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has rescinded the order requiring vaccinated individuals travelling in Pakistan to perform a PCR test for Covid-19 because it made vaccination mandatory for overseas travellers.

Eligible overseas travellers will not be forced to undergo pre-flight PCR tests under the new inbound passenger reviews policy, which takes effect at midnight on Wednesday.

Non-vaccinated individuals aged 12 and up, on the other hand, will still be required to show a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours prior to departure.

All inbound travellers must be vaccinated, with the exception of children under the age of 12. Those aged 12 to 18 are allowed to travel without vaccination until March 31, according to the statement.

Deportees and non-vaccinated pedestrians at border terminals will be subjected to a rapid antigen test (RAT), with those who test positive being forced to self-quarantine for ten days, according to the platform.

At an NCOC meeting in Islamabad, the inbound policy was reviewed, and the following steps were approved:

  • For fully vaccinated inbound travellers, pre-boarding negative PCR has been eliminated. Non-vaccinated individuals over the age of 12 will, however, require a negative PCR test prior to boarding (72 hours old).
  • All inbound travellers must be fully vaccinated.
  • Passengers under the age of 12 are exempt from required vaccination, and passengers between the ages of 12 and 18 are able to fly without it until March 31, 2022.
  • RAT on arrival at Border Terminals for deportees and non-vaccinated pedestrians; positive patients will be quarantined at home for 10 days.
