In a rain-marred contest at the John Davies Oval, New Zealand women secured a narrow six-run win on DLS against Pakistan women in the third T20I. This win granted the White Ferns a consolation victory in the three-match T20 series.
Opting to bat first, Pakistan posted a competitive total of 137 for five in their allotted 20 overs. A formidable opening partnership between Sidra Amin, who marked her return with a brisk 43 off 38 balls, and Muneeba Ali’s 27 contributed to Pakistan’s total. Captain Nida Dar’s quickfire 25 off 20 deliveries further bolstered their score, with Fatima Sana’s unbeaten 17 providing a late flourish.
The White Ferns faced a challenging chase but were at 101 for two in 15 overs when persistent rain intervened, halting play. The incessant downpour prevented the game from resuming, resulting in New Zealand claiming victory on the DLS method by a margin of six runs.
Player of the Match, Suzie Bates, steered the New Zealand innings, remaining unbeaten on 51 off 42 balls, while Amelia Kerr’s 35 off 31 deliveries was a valuable contribution to their pursuit.
Amelia Kerr, with an impressive performance, claimed three wickets for 11 runs, complemented by Eden Carson’s two wickets for 20 runs, restricting Pakistan to a challenging yet attainable total.
Fatima Sana’s exceptional bowling throughout the series earned her the Player of the Series award for securing six wickets across the matches.
