Pakistan spinner Noman Ali has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for October 2024, following his remarkable performances in Pakistan’s 2-1 ICC World Test Championship series victory over England.
Noman was instrumental in turning the series around for Pakistan, claiming a staggering 20 wickets at an average of 13.85 in two Test victories. His efforts helped Pakistan secure their first home Test series win in three years and marked him as the first Pakistani to win the ICC monthly accolade since Babar Azam in August 2023.
In the pivotal second Test, Noman registered career-best figures of 8/46 as Pakistan defended a 297-run target to claim their first home Test win since 2021. He followed it with another stellar performance in the final Test in Rawalpindi, where his contributions with both bat and ball secured Pakistan’s nine-wicket triumph.
The left-arm spinner showcased his resilience with a crucial 45-run knock at No.9 in the third Test to set up a 77-run lead for Pakistan. He then dismantled England’s batting line-up with a six-wicket haul, bowling them out for just 112.
Reflecting on his achievement, Noman said, “I am delighted to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month and deeply grateful to my teammates for their support. Contributing to a historic series win at home is a dream come true.”
Noman edged out South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner to secure the award, underscoring his invaluable role in Pakistan’s triumph.
With his stellar performances, Noman Ali has reinforced his status as a key figure in Pakistan’s Test bowling attack and a crucial player in their ICC World Test Championship campaign.
