George Munsey produced a historic performance on Day 6 of the second season of the Zim Afro T10, scoring the tournament’s first-ever century and propelling Harare Bolts to a record total, leading them to a dominant win over Durban Wolves. Additionally, Jo’Burg Bangla Tigers impressed against Bulawayo Brave Jaguars, while NYS Lagos clinched an important victory against Cape Town Samp Army to book their place in the next stage of the competition.
In the first match of the day, Harare Bolts took full advantage of favorable conditions while batting first. Openers Lahiru Milantha (13) and Janith Liyanage (24) provided a steady start, setting the stage for George Munsey’s incredible knock. The Scotland international played a breathtaking innings, smashing 100 off just 38 balls*, which included 10 fours and 6 sixes. In the final match of the day, NYS Lagos came out on top in a crucial encounter. Batting first, openers Rassie van der Dussen (51) and Avishka Fernando (66) put on an impressive display, forming a 122-run opening stand. Their experienced partnership allowed Lagos to post a formidable total of 133/2 in their 10 overs.
In reply, Cape Town Samp Army got off to a flying start with Brian Bennett scoring 40 runs in quick time. Jack Taylor added 37 runs, but once the top order fell, the rest of the batting lineup couldn’t keep up with the required rate. NYS Lagos’s bowlers capitalized on this and restricted the Samp Army to 91/6, securing a 42-run win. This victory also confirmed NYS Lagos’s qualification for the next round of the tournament.
