Pakistan beat Bangladesh in fifth place semi-final of U19 World Cup 2022

Pakistan U19 registered a comfortable six-wicket win over Bangladesh U19 in their ICC U19 Men’s World Cup fifth place semi-final match at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua on Monday.

Set a 176-run target, Pakistan completed the chase for the loss of four wicket sin 46.3 overs. Opener Haseebullah top-scored with 79 off 107 balls (four fours, four sixes). Haseebullah added 76 for the first-wicket with Muhammad Shehzad who scored 36. Irfan Khan scored 24 while Abdul Faseeh remained unbeaten on 22 as Pakistan sealed their win with 21 balls to spare.

Earlier, Bangladesh were dismissed for 175 in 49.2 overs despite middle-order batter Ariful Islam’s century. Ariful hit five fours and four sixes in his 100 off 119 balls. Iftakher Hossain (25) was the only other batter to cross the 20-run mark.

Left-arm-spinner Mehran Mumtaz bowled a wonderful spell taking three wickets for a mere 16 runs in his 10 overs.

Pacer Awais Ali continued his good bowling form with three wickets for 52 runs in 1o overs.

Ahmed Khan and Zeeshan Zameer took a wicket apiece.
