The University of Central Punjab (UCP) continued the successful run at the world finals of the Red Bull Campus Cricket 2016 edition underway in Sri Lanka.
A day after beating MMMC India the UCP outshined Colombo’s Business Management School (BMU), in another clinical performance which ensured a place in the semi-finals for UCP — making their maiden appearance in the coveted campus cricket tournament.
Batting first the BMU outfit posted a fairly competitive score of 170 for nine in their allotted 20 overs. SN Jayasuria flayed the UCP bowling attack with a whirlwind 37 ball 53 run innings that set the stage for the BMU total. Haider Ali was the pick of the UCP line-up; bowling an impeccable line and length he snapped four wickets for 34 runs in his four overs.
UCP successfully chased down a score for the third consecutive time to ensure that they top their four team pool with a hundred percent record; they had also batted second against the UAE and Indian teams.
Junaid Ali was in fine form for his team, he made light work of the target with an audacious innings of 69 that required a mere 43 balls. Mohammad Mohsin also continued his fine form in the tournament with a 54 run contribution which ensured an easy sailing for his team.
UCP hunted down the 171 run target in 18.5 overs and now sit pretty at the top of their group with the title a mere two wins away for this highly impressive and committed team. Pakistan has successfully made it to the semi final stage of the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Finals tournament.
