The Pakistan Cricket Board has released the details of the final matches of the Inter-Region U13 and U16 One-Day tournaments 2022-23. The U13 tournament final will be played between Lahore and Peshawar regions in a 30-overs-a-side match at the Jawad Club in Faisalabad on 5 May. On the other hand, the U16 tournament final will be played between FATA and Lahore regions in a 50-over match at the Saeed Ajmal Cricket Academy in Faisalabad on 6 May.
The Inter-Region U13 One-Day Tournament featured Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar regions in the triangular stage, where each team played two matches from 29 April to 3 May. Karachi region lost both its matches, while Lahore and Peshawar won their matches against Karachi region. The match between Lahore and Peshawar regions on 29 April ended in a tie.
In the Inter-Region U16 One-Day Tournament, Lahore Region topped the triangular stage by winning both their matches against FATA and Karachi regions. FATA Region qualified for the final after winning their match against Karachi region on 2 May.
The Inter-Region U13 and U16 Tournaments began on 12 March in Faisalabad, Karachi, Gujranwala, Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Sheikhupura, with 16 regions participating in each tournament. The teams were divided into three groups, and Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar regions emerged as the top-performing teams from the groups.
In the U13 tournament, Karachi Region topped Pool ‘A,’ Lahore Region won all their matches in Pool ‘B,’ and Peshawar and Rawalpindi Regions finished tied with four wins each in Pool ‘C,’ with Peshawar advancing to the final on the basis of a better net run-rate.
In the U16 tournament, Karachi Region topped Pool ‘A,’ Lahore Region won all their matches in Pool ‘B,’ and FATA Region finished on top in Pool ‘C’ with eight points from five matches in the tournament.
The final matches of both the Inter-Region U13 and U16 One-Day tournaments are expected to be a thrilling display of young cricketing talent.
