The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially confirmed the appointments of three individuals to the national men’s selection committee, responsible for selecting players for the senior, Shaheens, and U19 sides. The new committee, led by Haroon Rashid as the chair, aims to strengthen the selection process and provide a clear pathway for talented players to progress to the national team.

Joining Haroon Rashid on the selection committee is Hassan Cheema, who assumes the role of selection committee secretary and also serves as the manager of analytics and team strategy for the national men’s side. Cheema, known for his expertise in strategy and data analysis from his previous work in franchise cricket around the world, brings valuable insights to the selection process. His appointment is expected to enhance the strategic approach of the national team.

Additionally, the committee includes two prominent figures in the cricketing world, Mickey Arthur and Grant Bradburn. Mickey Arthur, serving as the director of the national men’s team, brings his vast experience and knowledge to the selection committee. His insights and understanding of the game will play a crucial role in identifying talented players and ensuring the team’s continued progress.

Grant Bradburn, the head coach of the national men’s team, will also be a part of the selection committee. With his expertise in coaching and player development, Bradburn will contribute to shaping the future of Pakistan cricket by nurturing talent and building a strong bench strength.

The presence of Cheema, Arthur, and Bradburn within the selection committee signifies the PCB’s commitment to strategizing for upcoming series and tournaments. Their collective experience and expertise will be instrumental in identifying and grooming talented players, providing a clear pathway for Shaheens and U19 players to transition to the national side.

The first task at hand for the newly formed selection committee is to announce the players for the fast and spin bowling camps scheduled to take place in Lahore next month. The names of the selected players will be revealed in due course, as the committee aims to identify and nurture promising bowling talents for the future.

With the appointment of the new selection committee, the PCB aims to streamline the selection process, foster talent development, and ensure a strong pipeline of players for the national team. The committee’s collective knowledge and expertise will contribute to the overall growth and success of Pakistan cricket.
