Pakistan Cricket Board Reveals Star-Studded Coaching Lineup for 2023-24 Domestic Cricket Season

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled a power-packed lineup of regional coaches for the highly anticipated domestic cricket season 2023-24. As cricket aficionados eagerly await the commencement of the season on September 10, the announcement marks a strategic move by the PCB to enhance coaching standards and bolster the growth of budding players across all formats of the game.

The coaching appointments, a culmination of a rigorous review process, have been meticulously curated to provide an enriching experience for both players and coaches alike. With a view to challenging coaches in diverse environments and catering to the evolving needs of emerging talents, the Cricket Technical Committee (CTC), regional presidents, and the domestic department collaborated seamlessly to finalize the selection.

Among the esteemed coaching panel are 14 Test cricket veterans, poised to mentor different sides in the upcoming regional tournament. The Test cricketers who will don the coaching hat are:

  • Ijaz Ahmed Jnr (Head Coach, Lahore Whites)
  • Riaz Afridi (Head Coach, FATA)
  • Arshad Khan (Head Coach, Peshawar)
  • Aizaz Cheema (Bowling Coach, Lahore Whites)
  • Humayun Farhat (Age-Group, Lahore Whites)
  • Rao Iftikhar Anjum (Age-Group, Lahore Blues)
  • Zahoor Elahi (Batting Coach, Multan)
  • Shahid Nazir (Age-Group, Faisalabad)
  • Azam Khan (Non-First-Class Head Coach, Larkana)
  • Irfan Fazil (Age-Group, Multan)
  • Qaiser Abbas (Non-First-Class, Islamabad)
  • Akram Raza (Non-First-Class, Head Coach AJK)
  • Junaid Khan (Non-First-Class, Head Coach Islamabad)
  • Abdul Rauf (Non-First-Class, Bowling Coach AJK)

Furthermore, the coaching roster boasts seven former international cricketers who will lend their expertise to the budding talents. The former international cricketers in the coaching lineup include Masoor Amjad, Zafar Iqbal, Shoaib Khan, Ghulam Ali, RiffatUllah Khan, Faisal Athar, and SamiUllah Niazi.

The much-anticipated men’s cricket season is set to kick off on September 10 with the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, pitting the cream of regional teams against each other. Subsequently, the President’s Trophy, commencing on December 15, will showcase the top eight departments in action, promising exhilarating cricket encounters.

As the domestic cricket season inches closer, the PCB’s strategic coaching appointments signal the board’s commitment to fostering talent, elevating coaching standards, and paving the way for a thrilling season ahead.
