An unbeaten half-century from skipper Mohammad Haris and a sensational maiden T20 five-wicket haul by Shahnawaz Dahani powered Pakistan Shaheens to a massive 114-run victory against the UAE in the 11th match of the ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup. The win secured the Shaheens’ spot in the semi-finals, which will be played on Friday, 25 October.
Pakistan Shaheens’ Batting Performance:
Opting to bat first, Pakistan Shaheens posted an imposing 179-4 in their 20 overs. The innings was anchored by captain Mohammad Haris, who played a crucial knock of 71* off 49 balls, including six fours and three sixes.
Shaheens made a solid start with openers Omair Bin Yousuf (21 off 11) and Yasir Khan (25 off 13) propelling them to 49 runs in the Powerplay despite losing both wickets early. Haris then formed a 62-run third-wicket partnership with Qasim Akram (23 off 28) before UAE’s Muhammad Farooq struck twice in the 14th over, removing both Qasim and Abdul Samad.
Haris was later joined by Haider Ali (32* off 17), and together they forged an unbeaten 67-run stand for the fifth wicket, lifting the Shaheens to their final total. Haider’s quickfire innings included three sixes and one four.
For UAE, Muhammad Farooq was the standout bowler, taking 3-27 in his four overs.
Dahani’s Devastating Spell:
In response, UAE struggled against Pakistan Shaheens’ pace attack, collapsing for 65 in 16.3 overs. Shahnawaz Dahani was the star of the show, delivering a career-best performance of 5-12 from his four overs, which included two maidens. Dahani’s early breakthroughs saw UAE crumble to 28-3 in the Powerplay, and they never recovered.
UAE skipper Rahul Chopra top-scored for his side with 20 off 18 balls, while Tanish Suri (15 off 15) and Syed Haider (12 off 16) were the only other batters to reach double figures.
Alongside Dahani’s outstanding spell, Sufiyan Moqim chipped in with two wickets, and Ahmed Daniyal, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, and Arafat Minhas each claimed one wicket as UAE were bowled out well short of the target.
