Pakistan Shaheens Dominate Zimbabwe A, Closing in on Victory

Pakistan Shaheens are in a commanding position and poised for an innings victory over Zimbabwe A at the close of the third day’s play in the second four-day match at Mutare Sports Club.

At stumps, Zimbabwe A were struggling at 238 for 7 in their second innings, still trailing by 78 runs with only three wickets remaining.

Starting the day at 461 for 8 in their first innings, Pakistan Shaheens added a few more runs before being bowled out for 479 in 116 overs. Centurion Haseebullah, who had scored a brilliant 111 not out in the first innings, could only add six runs to his overnight score as he was dismissed in the 116th over, ending with a total of 117 off 214 deliveries, including 14 fours and one six. Shahnawaz Dahani (6) was the final wicket to fall.

Victor Nyauchi was the pick of the bowlers for Zimbabwe A, claiming an impressive five-wicket haul for 125 runs.

In their second innings, Zimbabwe A faced a daunting deficit of 316 runs. Despite their efforts, only Nyasha Mayavo managed to reach a half-century with a well-compiled 55 off 108 balls, including seven boundaries and one six. Tony Munyonga (43) and Joylord Gumbie (42) also contributed with valuable runs.

Pakistan Shaheens’ bowlers fought back strongly, with Aamir Jamal and Mohammad Ali taking two wickets each. Aamir Jamal conceded 45 runs, while Mohammad Ali gave away 37 runs.

At the end of the day, Pakistan Shaheens were firmly in control of the match, with Zimbabwe A still trailing by 78 runs and left with only three wickets in hand.
