Pakistan Shaheens ended Day 2 at 212-5, trailing Sri Lanka ‘A’ by 98 runs in their four-day match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Abdul Faseeh top-scored with a composed 59, while solid contributions from Mohammad Suleman (40), Haider Ali (35), and Ali Zaryab (32) kept the hosts steady after losing early wickets.
The most significant partnership of the innings was an 86-run stand for the second wicket between Faseeh and Ali Zaryab, who consumed 165 balls to stabilize the innings. A fourth-wicket partnership of 54 between Suleman and Haider also helped Pakistan recover after slipping to 111-3. Hussain Talat (18) and Muhammad Ghazi Ghori (5) will resume the innings on Day 3.
Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka ‘A’ were bowled out for 310, adding just 17 runs to their overnight score of 293-8. Sonal Dinusha remained unbeaten on 85, while Isitha Wijesundara hit a quickfire 51, decorated with seven boundaries and three sixes, before falling to Kashif Ali.
Khurram Shahzad, who took a remarkable 6-30 on Day 1, was ruled out of the match after suffering a hand injury while attempting a catch. Ahmed Safi Abdullah (2-100) and Kashif Ali (1-41) claimed wickets in his absence.
Sri Lanka ‘A’ all-rounder Wanuja Sahan, who scored 63 in the first innings, shone with the ball, claiming 2-53 to keep the hosts in check.
With three days remaining, both sides will aim to take control as the match enters a critical phase.
