Amad Butt-led Pakistan Television (PTV) secured the President’s Trophy Grade-I title after a hard-fought three-wicket victory over State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in the final at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Friday night.
This win marks a historic double for Amad Butt, who earlier led Sialkot to the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024-25 title, making him the first captain to claim both first-class championships in the same season.
PTV’s Muhammad Shahzad was named Player of the Match for his all-round brilliance. His first-innings five-wicket haul (5-29), including a hat-trick, followed by a match-saving 125 not out, played a pivotal role in his team’s triumph.
Resuming their second innings at 69-1, needing 84 more runs to win, PTV lost six wickets in the process before crossing the finish line in the 41st over.
Left-handed opener Shamyl Hussain, who was unbeaten on 44 overnight, completed his half-century before departing for 58 off 67 balls (seven fours).
For SBP, left-arm spinner Kashif Bhatti toiled hard, claiming 4-58 in 13.1 overs, finishing the match with seven wickets to his name. However, his efforts were not enough to deny PTV their maiden President’s Trophy triumph.
