Pakistan U19 Begin ACC U19 Asia Cup With Convincing Win Over Nepal U19

Pakistan U19 commenced their ACC U19 Asia Cup journey on an emphatic note, securing a commanding seven-wicket victory against Nepal U19 at the ICC Academy Ground No 2 in Dubai. Right-arm pace sensation Mohammad Zeeshan shone with a remarkable six-wicket haul, setting the stage for Pakistan’s comprehensive performance.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Pakistan U19’s decision reaped rich dividends as Zeeshan spearheaded a disciplined bowling attack. His devastating spell of 6-19 dismantled Nepal U19’s batting order, restricting them to a total of 152 runs in 47.2 overs. Supported by Amir Hassan’s two wickets and contributions from Ubaid Shah and Ali Asfand, Pakistan U19 exerted control over the innings.

While Nepal U19’s Uttam Magar showcased resilience with a determined half-century (51 off 76 balls), stitching a vital partnership with Dinesh Kandel (31 off 59), Zeeshan’s brilliance ensured regular breakthroughs, curtailing Nepal’s progress.

In response, Pakistan U19 faced early setbacks losing two wickets. However, Saad Baig (50 off 56 balls) and Azan Awais (56 not out off 62 balls) steadied the ship with a composed 108-run partnership. Saad’s dismissal didn’t deter the chase as Zeeshan, showcasing his all-round prowess, blazed an explosive 20 off just eight balls, guiding Pakistan U19 to victory in 26.2 overs.

Player of the Match: Mohammad Zeeshan (Pakistan U19) for his exceptional all-round performance.

Pakistan U19’s promising start sets the stage for an enticing encounter against India U19 scheduled for 10 December at the ICC Academy Ground, promising a riveting contest in the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2023.
